The State's Wind Anemometer Loan Program (funded through GEO) will be loaning us
a 60' tall tower, anemometer, and logger. This is to characterize our winds
for one year for possible power generation. I met with the CSU installer last
Friday and showed him two Town-owned candidate sites. We agreed that the area
at the sewer ponds would be the best location and would prove/disprove the
anecdotal evidence that the valley enhances the wind. The other site considered
was the water tank area in the new Caribou Ridge development, as it's the
highest place in Town limits. That site already has a ~25' tower for KGNU's
repeater. I contacted KGNU, and they will let us put our own anemometer on the
top of their pole to have two locations with simultaneous measurements to
correlate and compare their conditions.
One thing that NedREP and the SAB could do is to research cost or find a loaner
wind anemometer/logger for the water tank site (mount on top of existing pole;
power is available there). If anyone has any leads, please let me know.
Thanks.
