Boulder County Commissioners Meeting; Solar and Wind changes

I was able to catch a portion of the Commissioners meeting on solar and wind changes in the county.  Essentially an individual will be able to have windmills up to 70 feet with little effort and only a few restriction like the "fall" area of the tower cannot be in you neighbors yard and you have to be in a colored area on the Colorado wind map (all of our mountain area is).
Solar has upcoming changes related mostly to lessening setbacks to within 5 feet of property line and the use of adjacent uninhabited lots as potential sites for arrays.
The head of NREL's wind testing site along route 93 south of Boulder, Jim Green, has answers regarding wind in the mountains, including vertical axis wind turbines.  Unfortunately, I had to leave before this portion of the presentation but, thought that Kevin and Nate might especially like to make his acquaintance and perhaps set up a tour for NedREP.
Meeting minutes have been posted if you haven't seen them yet.  I continue to work the biomass possibilities and have posted the summary report on the community center biomass project under the biomass heading; check it out. I will continue to explore its possible resurrection and will surely keep you all posted.     Mo
